1. Driver and required documents
To rent a car in Fes, the main driver presents three things when the keys are handed over: a driving licence, an ID document and a bank card in their name. Here, point by point, are the car rental documents we ask for in Morocco.

Licence age: one full year
We check the issue date printed on the licence. Example: a licence obtained on 15 March 2025 allows you to rent from 16 March 2026, not before. A probationary licence is accepted as long as it was issued more than one year ago. If you are unsure about your situation, send us the date of your licence on WhatsApp before booking: we will reply straight away.
Two drivers for a long journey
Travelling as a couple, with family or with friends, and want to take turns at the wheel between Fes and Marrakech? The additional driver is free, with no mileage limit. They present their licence (held for more than one year) and ID document to be named on the contract. Anyone not declared is not allowed to drive, even for a short distance.
2. Full insurance and 24/7 assistance
All our rentals include full insurance as standard: there is nothing to add when you book and nothing is offered as an extra when the keys are handed over. During our current promotion, additional insurance is also offered free of charge.

3. What is included in the price
The rate shown for each car is the final, all-inclusive price. In practice, it includes:
- Unlimited mileage across the whole fleet: a return trip to Chefchaouen, Marrakech or Merzouga does not change the price.
- Free delivery and collection, 24/7, at Fes-Saïss airport, Fes train station, your hotel, riad, home or office, in every district of Fes.
- GPS, baby seat or booster seat and additional driver free of charge: request them when booking so the car is equipped when the keys are handed over.
- Full insurance and 24/7 assistance, as detailed above.

4. Prices and payment
Our rates are in Moroccan dirhams (MAD) per day: from 230 MAD (≈ 23 €) for an economy city car, 300 MAD for an SUV, 300 MAD for a premium vehicle and 300 MAD for the 7-seater. The euro figure is indicative: it is the amount in dirhams divided by 10.
One price per month, calculated day by day
The price of the same car varies by month; summer is the busiest period. On the booking calendar, each day shows its own price and the total is the sum of the days selected. If your rental starts at the end of June and ends in early July, the June days are charged at the June rate and the July days at the July rate: no rounding, no surprises.
Example: the Renault Clio 5 2025 is shown from 230 MAD per day with a manual gearbox and 280 MAD with an automatic gearbox, in the cheapest month of the year. The exact price for your dates appears as soon as you select them.
Long-term: reduced rates on quote
For a rental of one month or more (extended stay, business assignment, summer trip home), we apply a reduced rate established on quote. Send us your dates and the model you want on WhatsApp: you will receive a priced, all-inclusive offer.
Credit and debit cards, no online prepayment
Payment is made by bank card in the main driver’s name: credit card or debit card, both are accepted. No prepayment is requested on the website when you book: you book, we confirm availability, and the payment arrangements are explained with the confirmation.
5. Booking, changes and free cancellation
Two ways to book, as you prefer:
- Online: choose the car, select your dates on the calendar (the total price is shown immediately), enter your name and phone number, then confirm.
- On WhatsApp: send us the model, the dates and the hand-over location you want on +212 673 92 14 21.
In both cases, our team replies quickly, in English or French, to confirm availability and the hand-over place and time. If you arrive by plane, give us your flight number: we track the actual landing time.
- Free cancellation: a WhatsApp message or a call is enough.
- Changes to the dates, model or hand-over location: on request, subject to availability. The earlier you let us know, the more options we can offer you, especially in July and August.
6. Vehicle delivery and return
You are free to choose the hand-over and return locations, which can be different, anywhere in Fes and at no charge, day or night:
At Fes-Saïss airport
We do not have a desk at the airport: a COSTA CAR agent waits for you at the exit of the arrivals hall and walks you to the car, parked in the airport car park. At the station, hotel, riad or your home
Same principle: we agree on a time and an address, and the car is handed over to you in person. For a riad in the medina, we agree together on the most convenient meeting point, as the alleys of Fes el-Bali are not accessible by car.
Outside Fes
Delivery or return in another city (Meknes, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech…): on quote via WhatsApp, depending on the distance and your dates.
Joint vehicle inspection
When the keys are handed over and on return, we walk around the vehicle together: bodywork, wheels, glass, interior, mileage and the equipment provided. Observations are noted on the inspection report, signed by both parties. Take your own photos at the start: it takes a minute and avoids any discussion on return.
7. Using the vehicle
- Declared drivers only. Only the people named on the contract drive the vehicle.
- Moroccan traffic rules. Driving is on the right. Speed limits are generally 60 km/h in built-up areas (sometimes 40 km/h in city centres), up to 100 km/h on open roads and 120 km/h on motorways, always according to the signs. Speed cameras are frequent and drink-driving is prohibited. Offences committed during the rental are the driver’s responsibility.
- No smoking in the vehicle.
- Paved roads only. Off-road driving (tracks, dunes, dry riverbeds) is prohibited. We do not offer 4x4s: our SUVs (Dacia Duster, Hyundai Tucson, Cupra Formentor) are two-wheel drive, perfectly suited to the paved roads of the Middle Atlas, the Rif and southern Morocco.

When the keys are handed over
Whether the hand-over takes place at the airport, the station or outside your riad, it works the same way and only takes a few minutes if everything is ready. Your checklist:
- Original driving licence, issued more than one year ago
- Passport or national identity card

Stay on the tarmac, take care at night
No tracks or dunes with our vehicles. Outside built-up areas at night, be extra careful: pedestrians, two-wheelers and animals may be on the road.
Need to extend or change the return?
An extra day, a different return location, a changed flight: message us as soon as you know. We adjust the booking according to the vehicle’s availability.

The return is as simple as the hand-over: we collect the car wherever you want.

I have a probationary (new driver) licence: can I rent a car from COSTA CAR?
Yes, on two conditions: you must be at least 21 and hold a licence issued more than one year ago. What counts is the issue date printed on the licence, not the end of the probationary period. A licence obtained less than a year ago does not allow you to rent, even with a more experienced additional driver.
Can I leave Fes with the car (Chefchaouen, Marrakech, Merzouga)?
Yes. Mileage is unlimited across the whole fleet, with no surcharge: you are free to drive anywhere on the Moroccan road network. The only rule: stay on paved roads. Off-road driving (tracks, dunes, dry riverbeds) is prohibited by the contract, and we do not offer 4x4s. Our SUVs are well suited to mountain roads and desert roads, which are paved.
Who is allowed to drive the car during the rental?
Only the drivers named on the contract. The main driver can declare an additional driver, free of charge, who presents the same documents: a licence held for more than one year, an ID document and a minimum age of 21. Anyone not declared, even a relative, is not allowed to take the wheel.
Is my UK, US, Irish or Canadian licence accepted?
Yes. For a tourist rental, we accept your valid national driving licence (UK, Irish, EU, US, Canadian…) as long as it is more than one year old. Our agency does not require an international driving permit. Keep your licence and ID with you when driving: police checks are frequent in Morocco.
What is checked during the vehicle inspection?
When the keys are handed over, we walk around the vehicle together: bodywork, wheels, glass, interior, mileage and the equipment provided (GPS, baby seat).
